First Aid

Minor accidents are treated at school by certificated First Aid Officers.  In the event of a more serious accident parents are notified immediately providing they are contactable.

At times it may be necessary to seek medical attention immediately by calling for an ambulance.

To enable immediate and effective contact with parents/carers please ensure that the front office is immediately informed of any changes to contact phone numbers or address change.

Students are sent to Sick Bay from either the classroom or the playground with either sickness or injury with a note from the supervising teacher and a short description. Students are then asked by the First Aid Officer on duty a number of questions to describe the nature of illness/injury eg. What happened? How they are feeling? Where does it hurt? This enables the First Aid Officer to ascertain the appropriate action to be taken.

Details of the Student and the nature of their illness/injury are recorded.

Parents/Carers will be informed by phone if a head injury has occurred.

Parents may be phoned to advise of the illness and may be requested or choose to collect their child from School, if necessary. Please note: If a child does leave school early they must been signed out by a parent/carer at the front office

Whilst in Sick Bay students are observed in the sick bay and regularly checked upon by the First Aid Officer.

Fruit Break

All students and staff participate in a fruit and water break each day. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and fresh fruit or vegetables to school each day. Fruit break can help to keep the body and brain hydrated and fuelled to support optimal learning conditions.
