English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD)

Students may be eligible for this program if at least one parent was born overseas, and the child speaks another language in the home. Trained teachers can provide support within the classroom, in a small group situation or on a one-to-one basis.

Enrolment

Our school follows the ACT Education Directorate enrolment policy. Children must be five years of age on or before 30 April the year they enter kindergarten. For further information on how to enrol your child go to: https://www.education.act.gov.au/public-school-life/enrolling-in-a-public-school.

Equity Fund

The school has an equity fund that is used to assist students attending camps and excursions if needed. Parents who require assistance from this fund should approach the Principal or Business Manager for confidential assistance.

Evacuation Drills

Evacuation and Lock-Down Drills are necessary for the safety of all those within the building and will be conducted at least twice a year to ensure all are familiar with the routine. Please obey all procedures if visiting the school during an evacuation.

Excursions and Camps

Educational excursions including camps are regarded as an integral part of the learning process and a fundamental part of children’s education. They provide experiences which stimulate curiosity and create springboards for further learning. Children are expected to participate as excursions are not isolated learning experiences. Written advice on excursions will be given to parents. If you have difficulty meeting the cost of an excursion your child should not miss out. Please contact the Principal to discuss possibilities.
