Commitment to Quality

Curtin Primary School was established in 1983 following the amalgamation of North and South Curtin Schools. In 2007, the two Curtin pre-schools came under the jurisdiction of the primary school. Enrolments have remained strong over the last six years and currently stand at capacity of 421.  New inquiries are always welcome.

Curtin enjoys strong community support. Our philosophy and goals were developed in consultation with parents, teachers and students. At Curtin our emphasis is on creating a supportive learning environment that is rich academically and socially. We are committed to quality in achievement and helping all students to improve, whatever their starting point. We have a world recognized program that caters for Gifted and Talented students with five accelerated learning classes from year one to year six. We promote an inclusive culture, with students from different ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities being accommodated and valued within our school community. A Special Needs group meets weekly to assist all children in receiving the best individual support both within and outside the classroom.

We are at the forefront of curriculum best practice with all classes having interactive white boards and access to laptops and a computer laboratory. Co-operative learning, peer support and junior/senior links with "buddies" compliment our Bounce Back social skills programme to promote a safe environment. We have anti-bullying strategies in place and sound student welfare procedures. Curtin employs a dedicated, professional team of teachers and assistants who have high expectations.  Our academic results in mandated external testing in Literacy and Numeracy are excellent with many children performing with distinction in the International Competitions & Assessments For Schools (ICAS) in English, Maths, Science and Computing. Our curriculum aligns the Australian Curriculum with the current curriculum framework of the ACT, ‘Every Chance To Learn’.

What a fantastic learning environment!! Whether it's chess, dance, science projects, the vegetable garden or music - Curtin children are given the opportunity to have fun learning.

You are welcome to make an appointment to discuss your child's education at Curtin Primary.
