Welcome to the School's Facilities Page

Architecturally, Curtin School is of traditional design with individual classrooms.   The school has a well equipped hall/gymnasium and specialist rooms for music, art, Indonesian, and audio-visual activities.  Our library is computerised, well resourced and includes an increasing supply of educational games.  Quality computer resources are available in all classrooms.

Resource Centre

The resource centre is well used by students right across the school  -  all classes are timetabled to use the library each week and receive instruction in information literacy, including familiarisation with information and communication technology and research skills.  In addition, the library is available for children to access from 8:55 to 9:15 am everyday and from 1:00 pm at lunchtimes, Monday to Thursday.   Children are able to use the automated system to borrow and return books, as well as performing their own on-line catalogue searches.

Information Technology

Curtin Primary School has a dynamic Information and Communication Technology Plan and is working constantly to accommodate access to up to date technology.  All classrooms have computers available and are networked, with Internet capability, using IBM compatible PCs.  The use of IT equipment is integrated into classroom use across the curriculum.

Canteen

The canteen opens daily and is administered by the Parents and Citizens Association.  Baskets with children's lunch orders are taken to the canteen in the morning and collected at lunchtime.  A range of products is available for direct purchase at recess and lunchtime.  The canteen closes at 1:00 pm.

After-School Care

An after-school care program operates each school day from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm.  The children are able to go straight to the program from class without leaving the building, a distinct advantage, especially for younger students.
